What is Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST™)?

Dr. Parsi is proud to provide a revolutionary new treatment for receding gums. The Pinhole Surgical Technique™, invented and patented by Dr. John Chao, is fast, pain-free, incision-free, and suture-free. It is minimally invasive and the recovery time is much quicker compared with the traditional procedure for gum grafting. Patients can expect minimal postoperative symptoms such as pain, swelling, and bleeding. Best of all, results can be seen right away!

Gum recession can be caused by heavy-handed teeth brushing, gum disease, or the normal aging process. Receding gums can make anyone look older, cause tooth sensitivity, and may lead to tooth loss. With Pinhole Surgical Technique™, multiple teeth can be treated in one visit, restoring a healthy and natural-looking gum line with minimum inconvenience and minimum pain.

How Does Pinhole Surgery Work?

The affected teeth are cleaned and prepared. The gum tissue is numbed with a local anesthetic. A small entry point is made in the gum above the tooth or teeth to be treated. A specialized dental instrument is used to free the gum tissue at the entry point and gently move the gums down to their proper position. Next, a small angled instrument is used to pass several collagen strips through the entry point and place them under the gums. The collagen helps to stabilize the gums. There is little to no postoperative discomfort.
